A car was purchased for $5,895 and will depreciate 22% each year. Two functions are given below to determine the value of the car after t years.V is the value of the car after t years. C is the original cost of the car and r is the rate of depreciation.
- Compute the yearly value of the car for thefirst five years using each function and put the data you computed into two separate tables for function #1 and function #2.
- Label the tables properly and completely.
- Graph the two functionson separate Cartesian planes showing the value of the car for the first five years.
- Label the graphs properly and completely.
- Write a brief paragraph or two interpreting the graphs by explaining what they mean.and describing the trends shown in the graphs.
- According to each function, how much is the car worth after five years?
- Analyze the graphs and argue for which graph is more realistic for understanding depreciation. Write a brief paragraph or two as to which graph and data are more realistic for this situation. Make sure you explain why the other answer makes less sense and what assumption(s) a person might be making, consciously or unconsciously, if they chose the other.
- Write a brief paragraph or two interpreting the graph below by explaining what it means. Compare and contrast the information and data you gain from it with the information and data you deduced from the two graphs you created.
